What's Your Story?

The Power of Your Story

Everyone has a story to share, but did you know that there is great power in sharing your story? Science shows us that the simple act of telling our story to someone else can turn off the body's stress responses, relax your nervous system and help heal your mind of depression, anxiety, fear and feelings of disconnection. When we tell our stories to other, we realize that we are not alone.

YOUR STORY HEALS
When video producer Kate Milliken was diagnosed with MS in 2006, she produced a series of videos to showcase her first year with MS, launching them on her own social website. Her experience taught her that people need a way to share not only their clinical experiences, but also their emotions behind the illness. The result is an online community that promotes the healing power in recording your moments: MyCounterpane.com

YOUR STORY CONNECTS
Another way to share your story and make a connection is through MSConnection.org. Use the tools to share why you connect. Create a profile and tell your story. Join a discussion or a group, or consider becoming a Society blogger. You'll find a community of individuals who understand the challenges of living with MS and can relate to you and your story.

YOUR STORY INSPIRES
Your story not only has the power to bring healing to you, but it can also inspire others. We are always looking for stories to tell, to help spread awareness and raise funds for research and programming. If you would like to share your story for these purposes, please fill out our online survey, and a staff member will follow up with you.
