Wellness for People with MS

Wellness and the strategies needed to achieve it is a high priority for people living with multiple sclerosis. People want to know what they can do today to feel their best, and whether lifestyle interventions can impact the course of the disease. This spring, the National MS Society published a paper looking at what we know about diet, exercise and mood, and what we still have left to learn.

2015 Texas MS Activists

MS ACTIVISTS CELEBRATE SUCCESS DURING 2015 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
MS Activists were successful in passing two bills this legislative session that will improve health insurance for Texans living with MS. Thanks to MS Activists’ work, both bills received unanimous support in committee and in the full House and Senate.

HB 1621 will ensure patients receive advanced notification of a claims denial for prescription drugs so that no one finds out at the pharmacy counter that their medication will not be covered. It also creates an expedited review process to ensure that the decision about continued treatment is resolved before access to the contested prescription is lost.

HB 1624 will require health insurance companies to disclose basic and important details about health insurance plans including what prescription drugs are covered and how much they will cost so that Texans living with MS have all the information they need to pick a plan that works for their families and their budgets.

Both bills are expected to be signed into law this summer. Thank you to MS Activists for your hard work and dedication!
